Privacy policy

The short version: no accounts, no stored links, no stored files, and Google Analytics to count visits. The details are below.

In one paragraph: Image and Video Downloader does not ask you to sign up and does not keep the links you paste or the files you download. Google Analytics sets cookies, with your permission where the law requires it, to measure how the site is used. To fetch media, the server reads the post ID from your link, requests that post from the platform, and streams the file to your browser. Basic technical logs record that a request happened and whether it worked, without the link, username or your IP address.

1. Who we are

Image and Video Downloader (imageandvideodownloader.com) is an independent website built and run by Yash. Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact page.

2. Information we do not collect

  • We have no accounts, so we hold no names, passwords or profiles.
  • We never ask for your Instagram, YouTube or other social media login.
  • We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share data for advertising.
  • We do not store the media you download. Files are streamed from the platform through our server to your device and are not saved on our side.

3. Information processed when you use a tool

  • The link or username you paste. It is used once, in memory, to find the post. It is not written to a database or to our logs.
  • Download links. The page receives short-lived signed tokens (valid for about 30 minutes) instead of the platform's file addresses. They contain the media address in signed form and expire on their own.
  • Technical logs. Our server logs record the type of request (for example "resolve" or "download"), whether it succeeded, an error code, and file sizes. They do not contain the links you paste, usernames, file addresses, tokens or IP addresses.
  • Abuse protection. To rate-limit requests, the server keeps a counter per connection address in memory for about one minute. It is never written to disk.
  • Short-lived caches. To make repeat lookups faster, public post and story details (not anything about you) can be kept in memory for a few minutes.

4. Cookies and analytics

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you allow analytics cookies. You can accept, decline, or choose in Settings, and change your mind any time through Cookie settings in the footer.

  • Necessary (always on). One first-party cookie, ivd_consent, remembers your choice for six months so the banner does not come back on every page. It holds no personal data and cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics (your choice). If you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*, up to two years) to count visits and see which pages and tools are used, along with country, device type, browser and the referring site. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.

Where the law requires an opt-in (the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), analytics stays off until you accept. Elsewhere, analytics is on until you decline. We use no advertising or marketing cookies in any region.

If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and any existing ones are removed. Google Analytics may still receive a basic, cookieless signal that a page was viewed, with no identifier that could recognise you or link your visits together. The links you paste and the files you download are never sent to Google Analytics, whatever you choose, and the tools work the same either way.

5. Contact form

If you send a message, we receive your name, email address, topic and message. We use them only to read and answer your message, and we do not add you to any mailing list. Messages are kept only as long as needed to handle them.

6. Third parties

  • Hosting. The site runs on Render. Like any host, its infrastructure processes connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and may keep its own access logs under its own policy.
  • Google Analytics. Measures visits as described in section 4, with analytics cookies only if you allow them.
  • Fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers to fetch them.
  • Platforms. To fetch media, our server (not your browser) contacts the platform you are downloading from, such as Instagram, Facebook or YouTube.

7. Your choices and rights

Because we do not keep accounts or personal profiles, there is usually nothing stored about you to access or delete. If you sent a message through the contact form and want it deleted, ask through the contact page.

8. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
