Editorial policy
How a guide gets onto this site, what we check before it goes live, and what we do when we get something wrong.
In short: guides are written by a named person, based on how the tools really behave, dated when they are published and updated, sourced where a claim needs a source, and corrected openly when they are wrong.
Who writes the guides
Guides are written and edited by Yash, who also builds and maintains Image and Video Downloader. Every guide carries the author's name and the date it was last updated. If another writer contributes, they are named on the guide.
How topics are chosen
We write about questions people actually ask when they try to save a video, photo or audio file: how to do it, why it failed, which format to pick, and what is safe and legal. We do not publish a guide just to rank for a keyword.
How we test
When a guide says a method works, we have tried it on a real public link before saying so. Where a guide includes a test, it says when it was done and what was tested. Platforms change often, so every guide shows an updated date, and a result only counts for the day it was checked.
Sources and numbers
Claims about laws, platform rules or statistics link to the source. If we cannot find a reliable source for a number, we leave the number out rather than guess.
We make some of the tools we write about
Image and Video Downloader builds downloaders, so a guide that compares tools includes ours. We say so on the page, apply the same checks to every tool in the list, and note where another tool does something better. We do not take payment to rank or recommend a tool.
Safety and legal stance
We only cover content that is public. We do not explain how to get around private accounts, paywalls or login walls. Guides that touch copyright say plainly that it depends on what you do with the file and on the law where you live, and they are general information, not legal advice.
Updates and corrections
When a guide changes in a way that matters, the updated date changes with it. If you spot an error or something that stopped working, tell us on the contact page. We fix real mistakes quickly and say what changed.
Advertising
Guides contain no paid placements. If that ever changes, any sponsored or affiliate content will be labelled at the top of the guide it appears in.
